Z Burning Mutineers

Seeking Fortune
3rd Session

The ‘Officers’ of “The Wizard’s Sleeve” were feeling encouraged after finding a secure refuge and some salvageable cannons. Their first order of business was to get the Cannons mounted up on the ship. Speculum took charge and crafted a cart for transporting the Culverins down to the cove and then successfully mounted them, one on each aft quarter of the ship. He then proceeded to clean them up, and test fired them both; smashing a couple of barrels to smithereens!

The ‘Officers’ decided to keep up their end of the Bargain with Darius Trivetti, and proceeded to make way towards a pirate cove known to Hayduke. On their way through the treacherous Broken Teeth, however, they ran into a sunken rock and punctured the hull of the ship. They quickly patched the hole, and found a nearby beach upon which they could effect more substantial repairs.

Speculum was able to mend the damage, but it did take a few days of effort. Nonetheless, they eventually arrived at Peg’s Revenge, where they were able to send Darius on his way, with Timmy’s salvaged crate of wine, to sweeten the deal.

Speculum then used some of the groups salvaged coin to provide the crew of “The Wizard’s Sleeve” with a feast, getting them all well fed and inebriated. This only further impressed the crew with what a good choice they had all made to ignore Darius’ nonsense.

The ‘Officers’ looked up some old contacts around Peg’s Revenge, seeking information on a variety of things. Timmy was most immediately successful, discovering 5 potential locations to scavenge shipwrecks. Unfortunately, upon leaving Peg’s Revenge, none of the shipwreck locations seemed to provide any significant loot. The group did however have a lovely sailing vacation to various treacherous stretches of coastline…

Finding Refuge
2nd Session

As the ‘Officers’ of “The Wizard’s Sleeve” were planning to go ashore and explore the hidden cove they had found, one of the ship’s crew challenged their authority. Darius Trivetti, playing to the rest of the crew, suggested the ‘Officers’ had no clue what they were doing, and they would all be better off if they sold the ship and went their separate ways.

Corwin responded to Darius’s assertions and a great argument ensued. Insults were traded back and forth, including the suggestion that Darius had innapropriate relations with goats… Eventually Corwin destroyed Darius’s argument and support amongst the crew. The ‘Officers’ appeased Darius by compromising, and offering to drop him off at the next port the encountered.

Timmy had noticed evidence of a wreck among the rocky shoals at the entrance to the cove, and dove down looking for anything of use. He did indeed find a shipwreck, and evidence that it had once held cannons of some kind, however the cannons were no longer attached to the ship, nor on the sea floor nearby.

The ‘Officers’ then decided to explore the shore and hills near the cove. Soon after making landfall they ran into a large angry bear among the vegetation in the estuary. Deciding that going toe to toe with the bear would be a needles risk, they gave it a wide berth and headed farther inland.

Up in the hills the group discovered an old, ramshackle fort, seemingly guarded by some humanoid silhouette upon the walls. The tried calling out to the denizens of the fort, to no avail. They also noticed a pair of cannon upon the walls as well…

Attempting to stealthily gain access to the Fort, the ‘Officers’ managed to disturb the denizens within, provoking conflict. Said denizens turned out to be 4 walking corpses! The corpses shambled out towards the group, who proceeded to summarily dispatch them, taking only minor scrapes and bruises in the process. They also found one of the corpses to be wearing a fine jeweled bracelet. Further investigation lead them to find evidence of an ancient battle between humans and the indigenous Lacertans, as well as evidence of a Lacertan ritual.

Within the fort the group found a small blockhouse, two Culverins, and a chart of the surrounding ‘Broken Teeth’ coastal waters. Inside the blockhouse the group found the opening to a network of caves. Exploring this, they almost lost Speculum when he almost fell down a cliff. At the bottom of the cave network they found a sealed stone cover, protected by the power of the Bifurcated One. They realized they’d need a Priest’s help to discover what lay beyond.

At the Tiller
1st Session

The ‘Officers’ of the “Wizard’s Sleeve” were lounging at Maude’s, nursing a grog they could barely afford. They had been lamenting the death of “Captain” Erasmus, killed by ‘The Itch’, when word came of the new Viceroy’s decree:

Acts of Piracy are hereby banned in the Vice-royalty of Naqoura. Acts of Piracy are punishable by Death. Any Captain with sufficient desire to Harass and Make War upon the Askuite should present themselves to the Viceroyal Representatives to seek a Letter of Marque with which to pursue legitimate aggression as Royal Agents.

They soon learned that their rivals on the “Sprinter” had set sail for Naqoura, seeking said Letter of Marque. After a short discussion, the “Wizard’s Sleeve” set sail for Naqoura as well. Fair weather, and a skilled handling of the ship saw them in Naqoura faster than ever before.

The new Viceroy, Santorum, was an unknown, and seemingly both ambitious and harsh. And as if Santorum and the “Sprinter” weren’t trouble enough, The Perkine’s, a merchant-noble family of some influence, were enraged that the ‘Officers’ of the “Wizard’s Sleeve” still sailed in their stolen ship…

Once arriving in Naqoura, the “Officers” split up, each to their own affairs.

Hayduke wandering Naqoura-town, went in search of blackmarket firearms suppliers, to no avail.

Corwin tried approaching the Viceroy, seeking support in action against Captain Klinga and the “Sprinter”, but was thwarted by bureaucratic shenanigans. He also discovered that Letters of Marque were quite expensive, especially for such poor, young, mutineers.

Timmy, meanwhile, sought out his cousin Renny, Master of Harbours for Naqoura, seeking information on sunken cargoes, perhaps lost in the harbour. They shared a glass of wine, and chatted for a while. Renny claimed to know of no specific, large treasures, recently lost in the harbour.

Speculum spent time supping with his friend, Lt. Dilbo, a munitions officer, and together, they counted chairs. After dinner, Speculum availed himself of the Harbour Fort’s workshop and crafted a sizeable bomb.

Later that night Timmy snuck up on the “Sprinter”, and having borrowed Speculum’s awl, proceeded to bore a hole in their rudder, sabotaging the lower gudgeon. Undetected, he swum back to the ship.

Hayduke went up to the Viceroyal palace, seeking information on bounties to fulfill, and learned of “The Behemoth”, wanted for piracy.

Corwin, meanwhile, went looking for easy marks; he spent some time running a short con, unfortunately offending the wrong man, and ending up being banned from the gaming house, “The Twisted Eel”.

The next day, Timmy found a case of wine while swimming under the Naqoura docks… Maybe fortunes were looking up!

“The Wizard’s Sleeve” prepared to set sail for the Broken Tooth Coast, hoping to find an inconspicuous cove to moor in, given the need to disappear for a time. The journey through the Broken Teeth was harrowing, but all played their part in locating a quiet, shallow cove, with a sweet stream flowing down to the shore.
